The Holiday Bonus Goes Out Once a Year.So does the mistake.
Two weeks' wages, capped at R6,997.21. Three weeks with no cap in Chapter III. Shifts counted for part-timers. Grade 7 and 8 artisans paid a different benefit entirely. Most motor industry payrolls get at least one of these wrong every December. Two hours before you pay, you make sure yours doesn't.

December is coming. The bonus run is on your list.
You'll take two weeks' wages, apply a cap, and pay it out. Same as last year.
But was last year right? Is the cap you're using the current one?
The cap moved on 1 September. Your part-timers worked different shifts this year. Two artisans moved to Grade 7. One employee resigned in October and is still owed a pro-rata amount.
Your employees know what they're owed. When the figure is short, they don't call payroll. They go to the DRC, and the back-pay runs from the day it was due.
Every one of those errors costs money, and every one of them happens in a single pay run, with no time to fix it after.
One two-hour session before the bonus goes out, so you pay it right the first time.
The MIBCO Bonus Masterclass
This is a live, 2-hour masterclass built for motor industry and fuel retail employers who run the holiday bonus in-house.
You arrive with your bonus list. You leave knowing every figure on it is right.
Who Qualifies
Confirm who gets the bonus, who gets Additional Holiday Pay instead, and who gets neither.
The Right Amount
Apply the current cap, the Chapter III rule and the part-time reduction correctly.
The Right Date
Know the three lawful payment dates and what happens when none was agreed.
What you handle after this session:
Every rule that trips employers up in December, applied to your workforce.
Who qualifies
You know which employees are entitled to the holiday bonus, and why motor vehicle and supply salespersons are excluded outright.
Bonus or Additional Holiday Pay, never both
You know which Grade 7 and 8 artisans earn Additional Holiday Pay per week instead, and how the 23-hour rule decides whether a week counts.
The current cap
You apply R6,997.21, the figure in force since 1 September 2026, not last year's R6,664.01, and you know when the cap applies and when it doesn't.
Chapter III establishments
You know whether your business pays three weeks' actual wages with no cap at all.
Part-time and short-week employees
You calculate the one-fifty-second reduction by shifts worked, so you neither underpay nor overpay.
Leavers
You pay the pro-rata amount to employees who left mid-year, and you know the one exception and when it falls away.
When it must be paid
You set the date within the three lawful options, with 20 December as the outer limit.
Records that hold up
You keep the calculation trail an inspector or the DRC will ask for.
"Now I feel far more confident and capable."
MIBCO compliance felt complex. Training with Elleck helped us simplify calculations and clean up our payroll logic immediately.

Common Hesitations
"We've paid the bonus for years. Nobody's complained."
A quiet payroll doesn't prove the amounts were right. Bonus claims are retrospective: when one lands, back-pay runs from the date the bonus was due, not the date it's found. One session costs R999. One short-paid bonus across a workforce costs more, before the DRC hearing.
"I'll just read the agreement."
The agreement gives you the clause. It doesn't tell you which of your employees falls under it, how Additional Holiday Pay interacts with it, or how to count shifts for someone who worked a three-day week from March. The session answers those questions, from 20 years of applying MIBCO rules in motor industry payrolls.
"Payroll calculates it automatically."
Payroll applies whatever cap, chapter and eligibility flag it was set up with. If any one is out of date, every bonus it calculates is wrong, all in one run. After this session, you know whether your settings are right before you press pay.
Here's What You Get
“One short-paid bonus costs more than this session.”

Questions we get asked.
Every bonus dispute
starts the same way.
Someone used last year's cap, paid an excluded employee or miscounted a part-timer's shifts in December, and it surfaced months later.
Two hours before your bonus run. You make sure it's right.
