Compliance Exposure // Guaranteed Increase

What do you already owe in guaranteed increases?

From 1 September 2026, employees already paid above the MIBCO minimum are owed a guaranteed increase — a published rand amount, per employee, per week. It is separate from the 5% on minimum rates, and it is the most commonly missed obligation in the motor industry.

What this figure does and does not cover

Guaranteed increase only

It covers the amount owed to employees already paid above the minimum. It is not the 5% on minimum rates, and not a full arrears reconciliation.

Two sectors are absent

MIBCO publishes no rand figure for Sector 6 or Sector 1, Chapter III. Sector 6 increases apply to minimum rates only; Chapter III applies to actual pay. Their exposure is real but cannot be calculated from a published rate.

An estimate, not a determination

Rates are the 2026/2027 schedule. This does not account for exemptions, short-time, or terminations mid-period.
